I am a self-employed computer programmer who, for many years, has built reliable software systems that provide recurring profit to their owners and quiet enjoyment to their users. Whenever possible, I provide fixed-fee estimates to my clients to protect them from unexpected cost overruns. I have many years of proven results in diverse settings. This experience, supplemented by a BS/BA degree in Mathematics and Computer Science (Boston College), a Masters of Science degree in Computer Science (Fairleigh Dickinson University), two years of study in a Ph.D. program (Stevens Institute of Technology), and a Graduate Certificate in Object-Oriented Design (New Jersey Institute of Technology) facilitates a unique synthesis of formal scientific training to augment practical industry experience. I have years of experience with C++/C#/C, .NET, Desktop, JavaScript, Python, and various other web, mobile, desktop, and server development technologies. Many projects have included RS232, RS422, USB, GPIB, MIDI, Ethernet, and Bluetooth interfaces to external industrial controllers and equipment. My recent areas of research and self-study include the application of concurrent programming algorithms to complex problems that have, in the past, been addressed by linear/non-concurrent algorithms. To this end, I have purchased and configured an advanced 128 GB Windows 2025 server with a 48 GB NVIDIA RTX A6000 GPU and a 24-core Xeon processor. My recent successes include the development of a "Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)" system that ingests a given corpus of documents (txt, docx, xlsx, pdf, pptx, etc) in such a way as to support natural language queries by a user. The system uses the classic Embedder Model - Vector DB - Re-Ranker Model - LLM design with a "top-K" results verifier. The system is implemented on a mid-range Windows/WSL server with a single consumer-grade 16 GB GPU, Another recent success is the design & development of a mobile (both iOS and Android) application deployed in a hospitality environment across several dozen venues nationwide. I have designed and developed the client-side application as an HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, and AJAX cross-platform "hybrid" application. The device-side code runs within a C# (Android) or Objective-C (iOS) custom-developed "native shell" application that provides the HTML5/JavaScript application with device-specific functionality (e.g., hardware access, graphics) via an abstracted interface. I designed and developed the server-side as a custom-written Windows Server 2012 r2 RESTful Web Service written in C# with a SQL Server 2016 back-end. My experience also includes many years of successful desktop development for several local (NJ) pharmaceutical companies. Typical applications include advanced sales/marketing data analytic applications with graphics/charting interfacing with custom data back-end systems. I have extensive experience in consulting and off-site software development for organizations of all sizes. My skills include expertise in most major programming languages with extensive experience developing software applications in the C, C# and C++, Python, Ruby, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and JavaScript languages in the .NET/PC/Windows environment. I have developed stand-alone, networked, client/server, internet/intranet, and web-service applications for various management science applications. My experience includes over 25 years of customer-driven, results-oriented programming in the pharmaceutical, hospitality, and financial services industries with specialized expertise in off-site development, testing, deployment, and optimization of ad-hoc analytical applications for .NET, MS-Office, JavaScript, AJAX, ASP/ASP.NET environments.
