Experienced French/English to Spanish translator, writer, & researcher

I am a native Spanish speaker with over 25 years of experience translating from French and English to Spanish. My main fields of expertise are Children and Young Adults Literature as well as History.  • During all these years, I have translated several monthly children’s magazines (ages 4-16) for Bayard, the renowned French publisher, and still do, in addition to many of their website articles on parenthood. • I have also translated History books and articles for adults, mainly from English. • I am the author of several books for children spanning a wide range of topics including science, recipes and activities, stories, cultural exchange and languages and history (see Portfolio section). • I very much enjoy information research and have participated in the writing of several historical books in Spanish based on my research findings from online resources and historical archives. • My writing style is natural and my translation accurate.    ABOUT ME I have always loved children. When I was a teenager, I earned my first pocket money looking after three of them and learned my first English words as a babysitter, in England. Since then, I have been linked to childhood in many ways: as a shop assistant in a children’s bookshop, as a translator, as a writer and, of course, as a mother. Research is my other passion. As a freelancer I have had the opportunity to spend long periods of time in different countries such as France, England or USA, working on my translations and doing historical research in some of the most important libraries and archives of the world (BNF, Paris, British Library, Kew Archives, Widener Library, Berkeley Library…). When screening relevant sources I am very organized, systematic and methodical. I am a determined researcher who can spend days or even weeks looking for the right document or missing piece of information. I believe that continuous learning is the key to success and happiness, that’s why I have learned Portuguese and have already achieved a working level.  SKILLS Translation French/Spanish, English/Spanish, Portuguese/Spanish, Catalan/Spanish; Editing: From June 2013 to January 2014, I worked as editor of Reportero at Bayard. Proofreading: I have been a proofreader for various Bayard magazines (Caracola, Leoleo, Reportero Doc and Okapi) from 1994 to 2008. I have also proofread books and articles for adults. Writing literature for children: I am very good at creating games and puzzles of different levels, keeping in mind the age of the child. I love writing about animals, science or history with simple words but verified and accurate information. Information research on historical topics: mainly from 19th and 20th centuries.
