1. Translation: English to Korean, Korean to English, French to Korean, French to English Since joining Upwork, I've translated a wide range of texts, from personal essays to corporate projects like pitch decks, websites, and branding packages. I've also interpreted for webinars, conferences, and court hearings. Good translations are not just accurate, but relevant. Language is dynamic. News words are made, some die, and others shift in meaning. These changes mirror how our understanding of the world evolves over time. I aim to deliver high-quality work, grounded in cultural insight. 2. Editing As an editor, I've worked on projects at different stages, adapting my approach to each project's needs, from shaping ideas to polishing, restructuring, and proofreading. Writing is not easy. Sharing stories with strangers makes us feel vulnerable. We're never sure if we've used the right word or the right tone. My priority is to offer clear suggestions while preserving each writer’s unique voice and making every piece a compelling read. About Me: I graduated from Yale in 2016 with a BA in French and Art History. While at Yale, I received the 2015 Scott Prize for the best French essay. (The paper looked at camera movement and spatial language in the 2013 film Blue Is the Warmest Color.) I also helped found the Yale Photography Society, co-organizing the annual student exhibit, and taught Korean as a peer tutor at the Center for Language Study. My early career was built around short-term projects: I translated curatorial texts at Galerie Maeght in Paris and edited a book by the residents of MeetFactory, a contemporary art center in Prague. After moving to LA, I interned at Matthew Marks and the American Cinematheque. At the latter, I had the unique opportunity to live interpret French intertitles for L’Horloge magique (1928), Starevich's surreal puppet animation. Thanks to Gwen Deglise, then head programmer of the Cinematheque, who recommended me to Outfest, I screened short and feature submissions at the nonprofit for four years. In 2022, I worked as a language consultant for an episode of the AppleTV show Little America. I translated parts of the original script into Korean and assisted the dialect coach, script supervisor, and 1st AD on set. Currently, I'm an MFA candidate at Columbia's Film program and based in New York.
