Muhammad Syarif F.

I am a multilingual translator specializing in translations from several European languages into English. My main source languages are German and Dutch. My service has been repeatedly used by TranslationPal, LLC (German, Dutch, etc.), Transferendi B.V. (Dutch, Indonesian) and Desindo Translation Service (Indonesian, Dutch, French, Italian). A more exhaustive list of my source-target language pairs: Indonesian to English, English to Indonesian, Latin to English, English to Latin, Ancient Greek to English German to English, Dutch to English, Danish to English, Norwegian to English Icelandic to English and Italian to English. I have been a prolific language learner from an early age, 12 years old to be exact. My learning has benefited from self-directed study of linguistics which enables me to systematically and analytically dissect various languages so as to have an easier time discerning them. I am a proficient user of SmartCAT; which is a professional computer-assisted translation software (not automatic translators like Google Translate). Professional translators use CAT apps mainly to boost efficiency and keep terminological consistency, not to replace the translator's expertise and intellectual effort. However, my default service is manual translation on Microsoft Word since that is what many clients are more comfortable with. I also have a membership at Proz.com, a website dedicated for professional translators worldwide. Although my passion is in linguistics, my actual professional academic domain is Petroleum Engineering with a focus on Geothermal Reservoir engineering.
